The European University Institute is now accepting applications for its Ph.D. programme in Economics.Teaching in the four-year doctoral programme is based on formal high-level coursework in the core areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics. The EUI Economics Department (ECO) brings together top scholars from all over the world and aims at producing the future generation of economists working in academia and in the public and private sector, mostly in Europe but also world-wide. Over the last five years, an average of 27 new researchers have been admitted to the doctoral programme in ECO each year. Most researchers are financed by doctoral research grants awarded by the national authorities of the 20 European countries that are contracting states to the EUI.
With forty years of experience in international postgraduate education, the EUI offers one of Europe’s most distinguished graduate programmes in the social sciences, economics, history and law. The EUI is a small, vibrant and interdisciplinary intellectual community. Its low researcher/faculty ratio, world class research facilities and supportive academic environment enable nearly all doctoral researchers to submit their dissertation at the end of their fourth year and defend it successfully within five years after admission. Our graduates go on to pursue successful careers in universities, research, national and European institutions and international organisations.
